New Stitch Items at Michael's

Michaels is currently in the process of changing its design and layout, adding new products while removing others throughout the store. Following the acquisition of Joann assets, the goal appears to be expanding the fabric and yarn departments—and that could be either a good thing or a bad thing for cross stitchers. For those of us who love needlework, these changes are definitely worth watching. Needlepoint has taken the crafting world by storm, thanks in large part to social media. What was once considered a more traditional hobby has found a whole new audience, and its popularity continues to grow. Michaels seems to have understood the assignment and is responding by adding more needlepoint products to its stores. Ghost Duck is in the shop

This pattern is one of five patterns in a Halloween Duck series.  It is the first one to be released.  There is a freebie coming soon to add to this series.  









For this series I choose to hand-dye my own fabric.  I used Rit Dye colors Charcoal  and Purple to dye Zweigart  14 ct aida.  The modeling turned out great.


I used DMC Floss .   
310 Black 
445 lemon Yellow 
741 Medium Tangerine
 03 Medium Tin 
742 light Tangerine
 B5200 Bright Winter White


This design is perfect for a Halloween Ornament or a pillow.  Stitch Count is 35 x 55, and it measures 2.5 x 4". 

It can also be stitched the other 5 Halloween Duck Patterns that are being released weekly.  Here is a sneak peak.




I finished the model as a pillow.  I used Candy Corn Fabric that I bought from Joann fabrics and orange Rick Rack I purchased at Hobby Lobby.
